AI Agent–Driven Intelligent Manufacturing: Tongtai Wins Gold and Showcases Semiconductor Capabilities at TMTS 2026
TAICHUNG, Taiwan, March 25, 2026 — The 2026 Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS) officially opened today, with leading machine tool manufacturer Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd. (4526.TW) making a strong appearance under the central theme of "AI Empowerment, Semiconductor Focus, and Digital Twin." Partnering with Yeong Chin Machinery (YCM) and 13 leading companies, Tongtai announced the formation of a new ecosystem for the machine tool industry. On the exhibition's opening day, Tongtai not only unveiled its AI Agent with cross-platform integration capabilities for the first time, but also received the Gold Award in the Operational Empowerment category of the inaugural "Machine Tool Industry AI Empowerment Label" presented by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA)—highlighting its leadership in smart manufacturing transformation.
A key highlight of Tongtai's exhibition centers on digital enablement and vertically integrated production solutions. The company has incorporated AI into its proprietary Tongtai Line Management (TLM) system and built a highly accurate digital twin environment on the NVIDIA Omniverse platform. The Tongtai AI Agent demonstrates powerful cross-platform connectivity, integrating the TLM system with ITRI's recognition tools and FANUC simulation software. On-site visitors can interact directly with the AI Agent to experience four core capabilities: professional consultation and product introduction, real-time production history retrieval, virtual machining simulation, and production capacity forecasting and analysis. By transforming complex manufacturing data into intuitive, conversational insights, the system streamlines and accelerates operational decision-making.
In addition to digital twin applications, Tongtai is showcasing its VU-5 Ultrasonic-Assisted Machining Center, designed specifically for processing silicon carbide (SiC)—a key semiconductor material known for its extreme hardness and brittleness. Using high-frequency vibration assistance, the system reduces cutting resistance and enables precise, high-efficiency drilling, significantly improving process yield rates. To address ongoing labor shortages in manufacturing, the machine has been further integrated into a fully automated solution, combining autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and metallographic inspection systems to create a seamless, end-to-end workflow spanning material loading, transport, precision machining, inspection, and automated storage return.
By embedding AI into its operational processes to enhance customer service and knowledge management, Tongtai received the TMBA Gold Award for the Machine Tool Industry AI Empowerment Label at TMTS 2026. The judging panel officially recognized Tongtai for improving corporate operational efficiency through AI tools while creating greater added value for its product portfolio, demonstrating strong innovation and proven real-world implementation in industrial AI applications.
In terms of industry collaboration, Tongtai and YCM have joined forces with 13 leading enterprises to establish a new manufacturing ecosystem. By seamlessly integrating core software platforms with machine tool equipment, this alliance directly addresses long-standing, cross-brand integration challenges. The collaborative ecosystem delivers turnkey, customized solutions engineered for five strategic industries: semiconductors, aerospace, automotive and motorcycle manufacturing, mold manufacturing, and energy. Through this deep strategic alliance, Tongtai and YCM aim to combine their capabilities to collectively strengthen Taiwan’s position in the global machine tool supply chain.
